The Road Map To Peace
By Hilton Sutton, Th.D.
As you know, the Prophet Ezekiel clearly establishes an era
of peace for Israel and her Arab Cousins.
The reference is Ezekiel 38:8, 11,14. The Prophet Jeremiah
also speaks of Israel dwelling safely but not in the detail offered
by Ezekiel. The word "safely" from the Hebrew is securely.
Israel has not enjoyed a single day, in over 55 years, in which
she has not maintained full military alert. She has fought five
wars with her Arab cousins and undergone many terrorist attacks.
The Road Map for Peace, as offered by President George Bush,
is an attempt to bring an end to the intifada. The word "intifada" identifies
the terrorism instigated by Yassir Arafat and terrorist organizations
such as Hamas, Hizbollah, Islamic Jihad, El Aska Brigade and
others. Their intent is to make life so miserable for the Jewish
people that they will leave their homeland. There is no way under
heaven that can force the Jewish people to give up!
Often you hear or read the statement: "Return all Palestinian
lands." The true meaning of this statement is the complete
destruction of the State of Israel. Israel does not occupy any
Palestinian land. In fact, Iraq, Syria, Jordan, Saudi Arabia
and Egypt occupy Israeli lands. I base my statement on Genesis
15:18.
Remember, never has there existed a Palestinian state and Jerusalem
has never been the capital of any nation but Israel.
The second part of President Bush's "Road Map" is
to determine how to resolve the Palestinian issue once the terrorist
hostility is absolutely ended.
Diplomacy, involving Europe, the United Nations as well as our
state department directs the venture, not as yet the Holy Bible.
A number of Christian and Charismatic leaders have opposed
the "Road Map for Peace." They say it is dividing the
land and all should pray for its failure. These leaders are mistaken
and should not be followed on this issue! Here's why!
Number one: the land has already been divided. The British and
the League of Nations did so in 1922. Prime Minister Yitsak Rabin
confirmed the division by signing the OSLO Accord with Yassir
Arafat in 1993. This document allowed Arafat and his Fatah organization
to legally return and set up business in the "West Bank",
which is ancient Samaria and Judea. By the way, there is not
one verse of scripture that allows any people to occupy the "West
Bank" but the Jewish descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
We, as Christian Bible believers are instructed to
”Pray for the peace of Jerusalem”, not against it,
Psalm 122:6.
Prime Minister Rabin was assassinated by his own people for
allowing Arafat and his terrorist to return to the land of Israel.
Number two: Should we pray against the Bush "Road Map"?
God forbid! Here's why! We, as Christian Bible believers are
instructed to "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem", not
against it, Psalm 122:6. Praying against the Road Map is to pray
against the word of God.
God carries out His plans by the use of mankind. He could do
all without us, but He has chosen not to do so. Therefore, all
Christians should pray for the success of President Bush's Road
Map. Is it perfect? No! However, it is a step in the right direction;
terrorism must cease. Peace will not come to the Middle East
until all terrorist activity is ended. When hostilities cease,
then we can pray for the next step in the process.
The Prophet Ezekiel established chronological order for end
time events. Once the peace is in place and absolutely acceptable
to all parties, Russia and her allies begin to think an evil
thought: take over Israel, militarily.
Before such an act, God will send Jesus to resurrect the Righteous
and then catch us all up to meet Him in the air. God then destroys
the enemies of Israel with the most awesome act of His wrath
since Noah's flood. Study carefully Ezekiel 38:123 and 39:1-10
for the complete Biblical story.
Be sure you are praying for the peace of Jerusalem and not against
it. Also pray for your president and all world leaders, based
on I Timothy 2:1-4.
