Could Jesus Come Any Day Now?

By: Dr. Hilton Sutton, Th.D.

Prosperity of God’s people is a strong Biblical subject. It is evident that Noah and his family were very prosperous. He was given an assignment no one had ever been given, nor had an ark ever been built. Noah was the first to establish marine transportation. Reason with me. To do what Noah did, he had to have been very prosperous. Why was he prosperous? Read on and I’ll give you the answer.

Was Abraham rich or poor? You know he was rich. The book of Genesis reveals his wealth. He had more than enough for his sons, so that he provided well for all of them. Even his children by Keturah were taken care of well. Why was he so prosperous and in good health?

Examine if you will the tribes of Israel. Were they poor or well to do? You know the answer. Look at Solomon and his vast wealth. Examine King David’s fabulous gift out of his personal treasure for the building of the temple, 1 Chronicles 29.

How is it that the original chosen people were so wealthy? They were not born again, were not Spirit-baptized and the Bible came into existence through them. Why were they so prosperous and often very healthy?

The answer is found in the magnificent book of Genesis. Remember, God enjoyed a daily stroll in the garden with Adam and Eve. The lesson to be learned was, stay obedient to God because He desires to walk with you.

God fellowshipped with those with whom He could walk. This simple truth was passed from Adam to his son Seth. From Seth, through his family to Enoch. From Enoch this vital instruction was passed to Noah. “Obey God and walk before Him uprightly.”

God asked Abraham to do the same. Read it for yourself in Genesis 17:1. As long as God’s people obeyed Him and made time for Him, they prospered and enjoyed good health. Obeying God and walking uprightly before Him became the spiritual thing to do, and it produced marvelous dividends.

God still wants His people to prosper and be in health. The atoning work of Jesus makes this crystal clear. Matthew 6:33 and 3 John 2 confirm this Bible truth.

I am convinced you should prosper and have good health. I pray these things for you and expect them. What needs to happen through every New Testament believer is obedience to God’s Word and making time to have fellowship with Him. “Obedience is better than sacrifice” and fellowship with our Heavenly Father is delightfully wonderful.

Do you know that if every believer in the United States obeyed God and practiced tithing, more than seven-five billion dollars annually would be available for His work. Above that amount would come our offerings of billions more. Presently the total income of the American church is just a little more than twenty-one billion dollars. It is evident that most of God’s children are not obeying Him or making time to walk with Him. WE HAVE WORK TO DO AND IMPROVEMENTS TO MAKE.

It is time for all believers to become obedient children and find pleasure in walking with God. Unless one is consistently obedient and makes time for personal fellowship with our Father, PROSPERITY WILL NOT COME.

Many declare their belief in Biblical prosperity, but are not willing to do what is required. Know the Word, obey it and have daily quality fellowship with the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. When these things are true in a person’s life, he or she can pray for prosperity and expect to be financially blessed.

Look carefully at Psalm 118:24-25, “This is the day which the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. Save now, I pray, O Lord; O Lord, I pray, send now prosperity.” Notice the Psalmist was ready for prosperity and could pray such a prayer.

Remember, if you want Godly prosperity, obedience to His Word and daily fellowship are required.

We, the Body of Christ, need prosperity. Not so we can drive expensive cars, live in great houses, wear the finest of clothes and have material possessions, but that we MIGHT ESTABLISH GOD’S COVENANT AROUND THIS PLANET. The first words of Deuteronomy 8;18 are, “REMEMBER THE LORD YOUR GOD.” Do not forget His mercy and that every good and perfect gift comes from above. Do not forget that it is He who gives you the ability to get wealth.

Never allow Satan to cloud the word picture of Biblical prosperity with carnal thoughts, such as: “All preachers want is money,” or “Every time I go to church all they talk about is money.” Neither statement is true. Granted, there have been occasions of abuse of money by men of God, but they are rare. However, we always hear about such impropriety. The secular media always reports such activity, but never the good work accomplished by thousands of people of God and their churches. Guard yourself against a stingy, tight wad’s evil words. You will hear them declare, “Tithing is not in the New Testament. It was under the law and has been done away with.” Their words are nothing more than a satanic attempt to cause disobedience to God’s Word.

The righteous principle of tithing is found in the book of Genesis long before the law was given to Moses. The law embraced tithing and Jesus came and fulfilled the righteousness of the law. We are delivered from the curse of the law, not its righteousness. Why, I ask, would Jesus do away with tithing when it is the means of getting God to open the windows of heaven and pour out blessings that cannot be measured and rebuke the devourer? See Malachi 3:10. Never forget, God said in Malachi 3:6, “I am the Lord, I do not change...”

Strange isn’t it, God has always desired to bless His people and yet I hear sermons against Biblical prosperity. Ignorance can kill you or rob you of what could be yours. Biblical prosperity is a divine benefit. To enjoy it, obedience to the Word and quality fellowship with our Heavenly Father is required. Shortcuts are not acceptable.

Our end time assignment is awesome. We must now have an ever-increasing outreach for souls. In order to accomplish this task, we must have Biblical prosperity. Of all previous generations, ours has the most awesome task. Therefore, it is reasonable for us to expect more money to flow into our churches and ministries than ever in history.

I sincerely want to hear of churches in which every wage earner tithes and also gives offerings. I expect to have increased funds coming into this ministry to support our outreach in these last days. Every believer has something they can contribute.

Read 1 Corinthians 12:12, 18, 20, 26 and Ephesians 4:14-16.
